Agnes "Peg" Chaney Stanford

Mrs. Agnes "Peg" Chaney Stanford age 85, of Melrose passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at her home. She was born May 16, 1931 in Waco, Georgia, to the late Roy V. and Cindia (Patterson) Chaney. She and Willard Stanford were married on November 1, 1952 and moved to Gainesville in 1955. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Stanford was the Superintendents secretary at Tacachale (formerly Sunland Training Center) in Gainesville for 30+years.Mrs. Stanford was preceded in death by a grandson, Len Stanford. Her survivors include her husband of 64 years, Willard Stanford and their three children, Josey and Darlene Stanford of Melrose, Jeff and Linda Stanford of Island Grove, and Susan and Ira Rogers of Melrose; also left behind are six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.Funeral services were held Saturday, March 18, 2017 in the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Buddy Gentry officiating. Interment followed in Little Vine Church Cemetery, Bremen, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
