Mr. Aldwyn Columbus Catlett age 93, of Keystone Heights passed away at the Roberts Care Center in Palatka, Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was born in Rural, Georgia on October 11, 1920 to the late Harvie C. and Eliza (Volumna) "Lummie" Catlett, and had served his country in the United States Navy. While serving our Country, Mr. Catlett saw combat in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Seas during WWII on the USS Tomich, DE242, destroyer escort. He was a long time resident of Jacksonville and an accountant for the railroad department until retiring to his lakefront home in Keystone Heights. Mr. Catlett was a member and Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church and a Mason with the Temple Lodge in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lydia Sailers; a brother, Wallace Catlett, and a grandson, Rory Webb. Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Juanita (Bessent) Catlett of Keystone Heights and three children; Wayne Aldwyn Catlett (Susan) of Ft. Myers, Daniel Overtsreet (Rae) of Shelby, North Carolina and Linda Orr (David) of Jacksonville; a 100 year old sister, Lillie Mae Waters of Commerce, Georgia. Also left behind are his eight grandchildren; Dawn M. Catlett, Vicki Williams (Mike), Lacy Webb, Brian Aldwyn Catlett (Alicia), Jonathan L. Catlett (Maria), Rebecca Garry (Matt), Anita Vandergriff, and David Orr, Jr.; five great grandchildren; Riley and Benjamin Catlett, Michael Garry, Steven C. Vandergriff, Jr. and Michael D. Vandergriff. Viewing for Mr. Catlett will be Monday, June 16, 2014 from 6-8 in Trinity Baptist Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor James Peoples and Pastor Scott Stanland officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate donations made to Trinity Baptist Church, P.O.
