Mr. Alfred Rupert Holloway age 85, of Gainesville passed away June 3, 2013 at the Bradford Terrace Nursing Home in Starke. Mr. Holloway was born March 3, 1928 in Baxley, Georgia to the late Rufus and Bennie Lee (Ellington) Holloway, and he had served in the United States Army. Following his retirement from Western Electric, which is now known as AT&T, for over 35 years, Mr. Holloway and his brothers started their own business called Red Ball Electronics Repair, in Pembroke Pines for 20 years. He also enjoyed photography, oil painting, and drawing. He taught his grandchildren about art and was a father figure to them. Mr. Holloway was an amazing grandfather and father, stepping in and becoming Mr. Mom for his younger daughters when his wife became very ill. His wife, Clara (Baumgartner), preceded him in death in 2010. Survivors are his daughters: Bonny Simmons of Starke, Amy Cummings- Aponte of Gainesville, and Sandra Lawson, and husband Russell Lawson of Clermont. Also surviving is his twin brother, Arthur Holloway of Jacksonville, grandchildren; Christopher Simmons, Cade Cummings-Aponte, Blake Crowell, Tiffany Lawson, Russell Lawson, Jr., and a great grandson, Weston Turner.
