Obituary

Alice Faye Kinard Lachman, age 85 of Gainesville, Florida, passed away June 24, 2026, at 9:50 AM following her brief battle with Lung Cancer. A retired office administrator with IFAS at UF, Alice loved her girlfriends, her cat Max, her art her flowers, and was a lifelong Florida Gator fan. Alice was very sweet and tough, just like her sisters, never complained, and loved to have a beer or two with her posse of girlfriends. Born July 11, 1940, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to James and Julia Kinard. She was the youngest of three girls. After graduating from high school, she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Lachman, while he was enlisted in the Coast Guard. Bill swept her off her feet, and they were married three days later on August 26, 1960. They started their lives together in Jacksonville, but ultimately called Gainesville their forever home. Alice is preceded in death by the love of her life, William (Bill) Lachman, and her sisters Edna Kinard and Jody Camariotes.

She is survived by her son, Michael Lachman (Christine), her grandson Cole Lachman, and granddaughter Peyton Lachman, of Burleson, TX., her niece Connie Haygood (Mark) of Tupelo, MS., brother-in-law Ed Lachman (Terri), Larry Lachman (Delores), Mary Scaramuzzino (Dom), and multiple other nieces and nephews. In lieu of a funeral, there will be a celebration of life at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, 7118 W. University Ave., Gainesville, FL, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM.
