Alice F. Tatum Alice F. Tatum passed away on September 12, 2013 after a brief illness. Alice was born on October 18, 1919 in Cook County, Georgia. She moved to Jacksonville in 1943. In the mid 1940s she and her husband John owned and operated. J & F Grocery in the Garden City area in Jacksonville. For many years she ran a daycare from her home. She was a member and treasure of the Senior RSVP. Later she was employed by the City of Jacksonville Adult Services and she retired at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her husband J.E. Tatum, her parents, John and Pearl Avery, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by her 2 sons, Ray Noles (Betty), and Frank Tatum both of Jacksonville, and a brother, John Avery (Doris) of Ray City, GA. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206 With Dr. E. Winson Butler of Dinsmore Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
