Allison Norwood was born and raised in Green Cove Springs - or as she preferred to say, The Cove. She arrived on the scene in 1966, the daughter of Perry and Imogene Norwood. She grew up with older sister, Priscilla, and, down the road, came to love another sister, Peggy. She graduated from Clay High School and Florida State University, where Kellum Hall failed to recover from her electric energy and loud (but excellent) music and, decades later, had to be demolished. Eventually, Allison made it to Athens, Georgia, where she became an expert on the areas music and thrifting scenes, while rooting out the towns most interesting people and the most adoring pets. It was there that Allison became a mom to Perry and Mitchell, who centered her world. She reveled in dance parties and outings to the racetrack and thrift shops in their company. Her generosity with her time, wisdom and love is well documented, as everything is these days, on Facebook. But more importantly it is inscribed on the hearts of all who met her. Allison came back to North Florida more often in recent years. She found comfort in familiar places and new friends. And it is here among them that she died on Oct. 15, 2021, one of too many victims of a cruel pandemic. Graveside Services will be announced in the springtime of 2022.
