Alphonso Singleton, Army veteran and Logistics Manager, passed from time to eternity on the morning of June 2, 2017, after a long illness.Alphonso was born to Alfonso (deceased) and Vernell Singleton on September 8, 1943 in Jonesville FL and was their only son. Al was married to his wife, Kim Hill for 27 years.Al and his family lived in Dayton OH and relocated back to Florida in 2001. Gainesville is where he was raised and his family called home. He was raised in a Methodist church and often stated "JC has got me" no matter the situation.Al was a devoted father of eight children, four girls and four boys. He enjoyed gardening, the blues, old westerns, sports and collecting jars and jars of coins. In his younger days, his motto was to "live fast, die young and leave a beautiful memory."Al was predeceased by his father Alfonso, his sister Joan "Alene", his nephew Rodriquez "Rod" and his son Reginald. He is survived by his wife Kim Singleton of Gainesville FL, children Lolita Singleton-Ceglarek of Tampa FL, Ava Madison her husband Jerome of Gainesville FL, Michelle Boykin and her husband Anthony of Dayton OH, Marleyna Hicks of Gainesville, FL, Gregory Singleton and his wife Lana of Gainesville FL; Rodney Gillespie of Dayton OH; Charles Skye of Gainesville FL, 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Al is also survived by his Mother Vernell Singleton of Gainesville FL and four sisters Alberta Walker of Copeland FL, Anesse Spencer and husband Albert, Veronica Mitchell of Stone Mountain GA and Vakya Mitchell of Fort Lauderdale FL and many special nieces and nephews.Service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at Bartley Temple Methodist Church, 1936 NE 8th Avenue, Gainesville FL. The viewing will be from 10:00-10:45 am; friends are asked to meet at the church during this time.Arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Gainesville, Fl.
