Obituary

Ann(a) Nally Eldridge of Gainesville, Florida passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on March 3, 2024. She was born on August 15, 1930, to Howard and Jenny Nally of East Point, Georgia and was welcomed by her older sister, Betty. Ann attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. While there, she became a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra where she was a violinist. Ann graduated from the University of Georgia in 1952. Immediately following graduation, Ann was employed by the American Red Cross, which quickly became a career she thoroughly enjoyed. After several assignments in the Southeast United States, including Key West, Ann was assigned overseas in Japan and Okinawa. One of her most memorable moments with the American Red Cross was meeting the last American prisoners of war when they were released from North Korean prison camps. Upon returning from the Far East, Ann was assigned to Alaska, where she resided when it became the 49th U.S. state in 1959. After returning to the Southeast United States, Ann met William A. Eldridge of Loudon, Tennessee. After a brief courtship, the two were married on January 23, 1965, in East Point, Georgia. They eventually settled in Gainesville, Florida in 1971. Ann was preceded in death by her sister, parents, and her husband of 54 years. A deeply loved and cherished Beagle-Bassett, Molly, was adopted by the Eldridge family in 2017 when she was just a puppy and was the love of Anns life. Molly lived a full and happy life and died of a broken heart the day after Ann passed. Ann is survived by her two sons, Albert H. Eldridge of Tampa, Florida, and Andrew W. (Deanna) Eldridge of St. Augustine, Florida. A private burial will be held at Forest Meadows Memorial Park.
