Arlie Joseph "Uncle Willie" Dobbs

Arlie Joseph "Uncle Willie" Dobbs age 89 of Lawtey passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville. Arlie was born on February 25, 1931 in Raiford to the late Arlie and Lennie "Roberts" Dobbs. Arlie served in the United States Marines where he fought in the Korean War and achieved multiple metals: National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. Following his years of service he operated heavy equipment for the Auchter Company and for Wood Hopkins Contracting Company. During this time he also married the love of his life, Peggy Sue Dobbs. Following retirement Arlie enjoyed serving his church, fishing, spending time with family, and will be remembered for his kind hearted spirit.He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lowideth Hewitt, Casey Dobbs, Cecil Dobbs, Burney Dobbs, and Lawrence Dobbs; daughter, Sandra Gustafson. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Peggy Sue "Mitchell" Dobbs of Lawtey; children, Michael (Laurie) Dobbs of Jacksonville Beach and Chris (Ralph Jay) Williams of Newberry; grandchildren, Kris (Jessie) Wagner, Anna (Danny) Kelly, Laura (Jeremy) Isaacson, Marvin Williams, Tony Williams, Jayson Williams, Jennifer Williams, and Rachel Reeves; and great-grandchildren, Savannah (Chris) Murphy and Gunnar Isaacson.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Northside Baptist Church with Pastor Lester Austin and Pastor Larry Finley officiating. A visitation will precede the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Lawtey Cemetery.
