Arnold (Arnie) Harris, died peacefully at his home in Lawtey on Saturday, Nov. 21. He was 66 years old. He was born December 22, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY to Irving and Claire Harris. After moving to Miami, Florida in 1974, he taught high school English for nearly 20 years. After his retirement in 1999, he moved to Lawtey. He would later fulfill a long-time dream by working as a journalist, writing for the Bradford County Telegraph and the Lake Region Monitor from 2003 to 2007. He was a skilled piano player, a published author and tried his hand at stand-up comedy. He was a witty individual who loved animals and was passionate about political activism. He longed for a peaceful and just world for his children and grandchildren. Harris is survived by his partner, Pam Harween of Lawtey; his sister, Barbara Grosskopf of Lakewood, New Jersey; his two sons, Jason Harris of Davie, Florida, and Randy Harris of Tampa. Survivors also include his grandchildren, Andrew and Aria. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel at 3PM.
