Arthur T. Owen Arthur T. Owen, 93, passed away on July 3, 2012. Mr. Owen, the son of Ellison Proctor Owen Jr. and Charlotte Edwards Thompson Owen, was born on January 13, 1919. On his maternal side, he was a descendant of Virginia's prominent Swann family of Swann's Point, opposite Jamestown, where the family settled in 1625. A native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Mr. Owen attended the University of Florida where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He loved golf and as a youth was competitive at the amateur level, participating in many Florida State Golf Association tournaments. He retired from Southern Bell after more than 30 years of service. On June 24, 1950, he married Beverly Pacetti, the love of his life. He was predeceased by his eldest child, Arthur Ellison Owen. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Pacetti Owen, a daughter, Elaine Owen (Michael Feely) of Sarasota, and sons Stephen T. Owen and Gary M. Owen (Kelli) of Jacksonville. He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Evan C. Feely, Lauren R. Owen and Logan R. Owen; a sister, Charlotte Owen Hardin, and a brother, Frank Hoke Owen. Services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South.
