Arthur Powell, Jr.

Reverend Arthur Powell, Jr. age 79, of Jacksonville passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 in Starke. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on January 14, 1937 to the late Arthur and Marguerite (Fisher) Powell, Sr. Mr. Powell had received his theology degree from Toccoa Falls College, a masters degree in counseling from Liberty University and was working on his doctorate degree. Prior to his retirement he was the minister for Hope Community Church in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn two years ago. His survivors are his three children, Lisa Whitehurst (Mike) and their two children, Paige and Cameron all of Chapin, South Carolina; Arthur Powell, III of Jacksonville and Lee Powell (Debbie) of Fort Myers. There will be a memorial service at Hope Community Church in Jacksonville, 1710 Kernan Blvd., N. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations please be made to Toccoa Falls College, 107 Kincaid Drive, Toccoa Falls, GA 30598.
