Baine C. Willis (BC) passed away on May 27, 2015 in Woodstock, Maryland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday June 2, 2015 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South; the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service hour. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd. BC was born in TyTy, GA on August 22, 1925 to Gilbert and Nan Willis. A longtime Jacksonville resident, he was a Master Mason of Lodge 23 of the Free & Accepted Masons of Florida and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. After the war, BC joined Southern Bell and he worked within the Bell system for 38 years until he retired. BC was an avid outdoorsman and adventurer who spent countless days hunting, camping, trail riding and long ago, flying float planes. He traveled extensively throughout the American West and lived in Craig, CO for more than 30 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters; Sara Warren, Virginia Grantham, and Patricia Elliott. BC is survived by two sons and their wives, Mitch & Melinda Willis of Gainesville, GA and Todd & Dana Willis of Woodstock, MD; nine grandchildren, Jason Willis of Port St. Richie, FL, Amanda Willis of Albany, GA, Matthew Willis of Tifton, GA, Andrew Willis of Gainesville, GA, Erin, Mackenzie, and Tucker Willis of Woodstock, MD, and Holly and Dillon Hutchinson of Gainesville, GA; four great-grandchildren and many extended family members & friends in Jacksonville, Tifton, GA and Craig, CO.
