Mrs. Barbara Jean Bowers age 85 of Gainesville passed away at Haven Hospice E.T. York Care Center Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Mrs. Bowers was born in Avon Park on January 21, 1929 to the late James and Lillian Bridges. She had worked for the University Of Florida College Of Nursing as an Administrative Assistant, and was also a homemaker. She was of the Methodist Faith and had attended the Keystone Community Church for many years where she also worked in the Church office and was involved with the youth programs. Mrs. Bowers had also been actively involved with her children and their school activities. She was an avid Gator fan and enjoyed watching TV and enjoying her sweets. Her two daughters; Debie Bowers and Kitty Friedlin and one grandson, Chris York had preceded her in death. Survivors are her daughters; Teri Bracy, husband Ben of Orlando, Beckie Davis, husband Jeff of Keystone Heights, Kandi Crosier of Gainesville, Kristie Hill, husband Mike of Earleton, Karol Chase of Gainesville, and Katrina Jones, husband Randy of Oregon. Also left behind are her thirteen grandchildren; Scott York, Jeffery Davis, Ashley Mosley, Jason Friedlin, Lindsay Smith, C.J. and Blake Crosier, Michael and Bailee Hill, Sean, Brittany, Megan and Audrey Jones, along with five great grandchildren; Paige and Miranda Davis, Harrison Smith, Josh and Madison Leibrich. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Keystone Heights Cemetery with Pastor Steve Conner officiating.
