Barbara Jean Crawford

Mrs. Barbara "Mema" Jean Crawford 85, a lifelong resident of Starke passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, in Gainesville. She was born February 15, 1936, in Starke to William R. and Pearl (Sapp) Conner. Prior to retirement she worked for Clay County School Board as a bus driver and at Southside Elementary School in Starke in their cafeteria for 29 years. She was a long-time member of Laura Baptist Church and enjoyed camping, attending gospel singings and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She was also a great example of being a wife and mother. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Jason "J.B." Crawford. Her survivors are four sons Allen B. Crawford (Elaine) of Starke, Donnie Crawford (Denise) of Lake Butler, Gordon "Dinky" Crawford of Starke and Eric Crawford (Charmin) of Lake Butler and two sisters Nancy Coleman (Hilton) and Betty Ann Griffis all of Starke. She was lovingly called "Mema" by ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Crawford will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. in Sampson City Church of God with Bro. Jason Crawford and Rev. Lester Austin officiating.
