Barbara Hardin Sprenger

Barbara Hardin Sprenger, 83, passed away on Thursday January 16, 2020 at her sons home in Jacksonville Beach.A Jacksonville native, Barbara was born on April 23, 1936 to Frank & Bessie Hardin. She was a graduate of Landon High School, Class of 1955, and retired after over 41 years of service from Blue Cross/Blue Shield. A big believer in helping others, Barbara was a long-time volunteer at Memorial Hospital and she was a member of the Red Hat Society. Her happiest times were when her family was together.Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Dennis Sprenger in 1974. She is survived by her sons Michael E. "Rick" Sprenger (wife, Sheri) of Jacksonville Beach & Timothy S. Sprenger of North Hollywood, CA; two grandchildren: Courtney Machel (husband, Jeff) and Lexi Sprenger, great-grandchildren Melaney and Malorey, as well as by many extended family members & friends.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday January 24, 2020 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, followed by a procession to graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday January 23rd. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
