Beatrice B. Hess "Bea", 87, of Jacksonville passed away on December 22, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic. Beatrice was born May 26, 1927 in Sparks, Georgia to Thomas Houston Burnette & Ettie Mae Bristol Burnette. Bea loved life, traveling, golf, gardening and family. She especially enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with her sister, Gladys. Bea retired in 1982 from Blue Cross and Blue Shield and she was a member of Elks Lodge #228, Mill Cove Golfers and Old Plank Baptist Church. She was fond of letting everyone know that "God has always taken care of me." Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Hess and her daughter, Beverly Butler. She is survived by her son Danny Stivender (Gloria) of St. Augustine; a grandson Michael Stivender; a granddaughter Stephanie Nobles (Mark) of Jacksonville; 2 great grandsons Mark & Justin Nobles; a step daughter Sandra Ogburn (David) of Yucaipa, CA and their children Michayla, David, Eric 2 sisters Gladys Copeland (Jesse) of Jacksonville & Evelyn Beck of Adell, GA; a brother Richard Burnette (Marie) of Milledgeville, GA and many nieces, nephews & extended family, including a very special niece, Francine Stone (Larry) of Tifton, GA. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. Jacksonville, FL 32216 on Saturday December 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Larry McGinley officiating. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to service. A private interment will be held at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens at a later date.
