Obituary

Mr. Bert Edward McGee age 73, of Starke passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Haven Hospice of Lake City. Mr. McGee was born in Maplesville, Alabama on March 20, 1939 to the late Walker and Mary (McKelbey) McGee. He was of the Baptist Faith and served in the United States Army for four years. Prior to retirement, Mr. McGee was a Lab Analyst Technician for DuPont. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, going to the beach and spending time with his family. At one time he worked helping with catering on the sets of Bonanza, Rifleman, and The Virginian in California. Bert was preceded in death by his twin brother Curtis McGee and brothers, Ocie McGee and Joe McGee Mr. McGee is survived by his children; Bert Eddie Edward McGee, Jr. (Leslie) of Camden, TN, Robert Robby McGee (Patti) of Starke, and Marilynn Martinez (Marty) of Lake City. He also leaves behind his brothers; Jimmy McGee of Carson City, NV, Bruce McGee of Pinehurst, NC, a sister; Mary Rhoden of Salt Springs, six grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, his loving friend Lois Clark, and the mother of his children; Beverly McGee Poag of Jasper, GA. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Madison Street Baptist Church.
