DOB: 5/20/1925 in Colorado, daughter of Gertrude and John Byrnes.DOD: 12/14/2015 in Sarasota, FloridaBetty grew up in Iowa, youngest of four children. She graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, with a B.S. in Home Economics, and was a teacher in Iowa until she married Harold Consbruck, on 6/20/1953. In 1956, she and Harold moved to Venezuela for Harold's work in the oil industry. In 1973, the family moved to Gainesville, Florida, with their five sons.She was predeceased by husband, Harold, in April, 2013. She is survived by five sons: David, of Sarasota, Florida; Keith, of Alachua, Florida; Thomas, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Duane, of Boca Raton, Florida, and Paul, of Sarasota, Florida. She is survived by 5 daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.She was a resident of Gainesville, Florida, for 40 years, and moved to Sarasota for the remaining two years of her life. She and Harold were active parishioners of Holy Faith Catholic Church.She was inducted into the John H. Newman National Honor Society at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, in Ames, Iowa. She was active in the Gainesville Women's Club as a Board Member and Lunch Chairperson for 30 years. Betty lived her life according to the motto: "There is always room for one more, whether it's at the dining table or a place to spend the night."Her favorite prayer was by St. Francis of Assisi from which she patterned her life.Betty's request for mourners: "Perform some act of kindness to someone in need as often as you can."A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Holy Faith Catholic Church and a Vigil Service will be at 6:00 PM, Monday, December 28 at Forest Meadows Funeral Home.
