Mrs. Betty Mae Sutton Griffis Doyle passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 in Orange Park Medical Center. She was born in Middleburg, Florida on October 11, 1928 to Henry Caleb and Daisy Isobel Sutton. She spent several years in Lawtey, Florida and Arkansas before moving back to Florida in the late 1980s. She was a former member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Starke, Florida and loved fishing and gardening. A resident of Middleburg she was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, a daughter Paulette Griffis Sauls, and a son James Billy Griffis. Betty is survived by two sons: Paul Duane Griffis (Gertrude) of Starke, Florida; Arthur Dale Griffis (Ruth Pennell) of Middleburg, Florida; three daughters: Carol Griffis Brier (Gary) of Tennessee; Marsha Griffis Foxwell (Dave) and Cynthia Cindy Griffis Lewis (Chris) both of Middleburg, Florida; sister: Pansy Mizell of Poplarville, Mississippi; brother: Henry Franklin Frank Sutton of Lawtey, Florida; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the DEWITT C. JONES CHAPEL with Minister Robbie Lewis presiding. There will be a visitation at the funeral home following services. Internment will be held privately at a later date.
