Betty Jean George, 82, of Jacksonville, passed away on May 1, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to service. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery will be private. Betty Jean was born on June 13, 1932 in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended the University of Tennessee and worked as a secretary at Independent Life Insurance Company and Mercury Motor Express. Betty Jean also taught kindergarten for 21 years, retiring in 1987. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. Betty Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harvey C. George; her daughter and son in law, Susan and Jim Bender and 2 grandsons, Jake and Cole Bender.
