Final services for Mrs. Betty Jo Joiner, 91 will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, December 2nd from the graveside at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Charles Michael Cole officiating.Betty was born in Avon Park, Florida to Maggie and Joseph Dickinson on August 19, 1929 and entered into eternal life on November 24, 2020. Her spirit is carried on by her loving daughter, Lydia Dunaway, and much adored son-in-law, Barry Dunaway, along with a host of family and friends who cherished her loving personality, generous heart and beautiful smile.Betty was unapologetically herself and knew how to make everyone feel special. She never missed a chance to have a good time and loved to feed anyone and anything whether you were hungry or not. Betty radiated love and we were blessed to learnmany valuable lessons from her during her 91 years. She was an amazing Southern cook with pot roast, lima beans, cornbread dressing, pork and rice, Italian Wedding Cake and fruit cake among her best dishes. She could even make the lowly fruitcakea huge hit at Christmas time!As much as she loved cooking, camping, family and her pets, her greatest love was Joe, her husband of 52 years. Betty and Joseph H. Joiner were happily married for 52 years before his passing in 1999. They shared a beautiful and magical life together first in Avon Park, Florida, where they met as kids in grade school. After their marriage in 1947, they settled in the Jacksonville, Florida area. Together over the years they made many friends and enjoyed camping all around the country in their RV, making fall trips with their Gator Fan Caravan friends to the Florida Gator football games. They also gave many fun cookouts and fish-frys at theirbeautiful Atlantic Beach home. Betty and Joe were always the fun couple everyone wanted to spend time with.Betty is also survived by her granddaughter, Beth Whit; grandson, Tommy Harper; great-granddaughter, Taylor (Chad) Mominee and many other cousins, nieces nephews, friends and family. Aside from losing Joe, the love of her life, in 1999, Betty is predeceased by her beloved sister, Eloise Koren and her adopted daughter, Martha Harper. The family also wishes to thank all of those who cared for Betty during her last days at the Samantha Wilson Center and Baileys Community Hospice in St. Augustine, FL. Most notably, Ms. Tiffany Rentoul, for her tireless devotion to her sweet Betty.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H.
