Betty Newsom Jones, 94, passed away on June 27, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlisle, son, Kenneth, parents, Frank and Myrtise Newsom, and sister, Mary Morgan. She was an active member of Hogan Baptist Church and in her later years, she attended San Jose Baptist Church. She enjoyed boating, playing Bridge, and the Florida Gators. Most of all, she loved and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her son, Charlie (Beth), daughter, Cindy (Andy), grandchildren, Amanda Ferrer (Nick), Spencer Jones (Hayley), Steven Wilks (Lauren), Austin Wilks, and great-grandchildren, Maximus, Lucas, Walker, and Sadie. We thank the nurses and staff at Starling San Jose. We also appreciate the love and care given to Betty and Carlisle by Bonnie Councill for the past 20 years. A viewing will be held on Monday, July 3rd, from 12:00 to 1:30 at Hewell and Son Funeral Home at 4140 University Blvd. S. Graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery on Beach Blvd will follow at 2:00 with Dr. Terry Collins will be officiating the service.
