Mrs. Betty Christine Dixon Lewis, age 90, of Starke passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at Haven Hospice, E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville. She was born in Cross City August 20, 1924 to the late Thomas Bithwood Dixon and Ruby (Lee) Dixon and was a homemaker. Mrs. Lewis had been a longtime resident of Starke moving here from Jacksonville and was a member of First Baptist Church and formerly a member of Madison Street Baptist Church and Womens Auxiliary at Shands at Starke. Her husband Thomas Edward Lewis had preceded her in death along with her brother, Richard S. Courtney and her sister, Louise Thompson. Survivors are; a daughter, Betty Ann Lewis -Alvarez of Glenn Saint Mary; a son, Thomas Arthur Lewis his wife Christy Howard Lewis of Houston; three half-brothers, Barney Dixon, Billy Dixon both of Missouri and Joseph Dixon of Panama City; a half-sister, Aquilla Ann Dixon of Missouri. Also left behind are four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Memorial services for Mrs. Lewis will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Reverend Charles Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Crosby Lake Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
