Obituary

Culberson, Beulah Pearl Mitchell, 95 of Gainesville passed away January 31, 2014 at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Beulah was born in Greenwood, MS on December 18, 1918 and attended school in Lake Village, Arkansas and Winter Haven, Florida. She obtained a B.S. in Education degree from Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee and was a pioneering elementary school teacher in South Bay and Pahokee in the Florida Glades. She was married to Hugo Boe, a Pahokee farmer and city commissioner for 19 years and they had two sons, Dr. Robert Boe of Destin and William "Bill" Boe of Gainesville. Beulah later married William Proctor Culberson, owner of Culberson Trucking Company, and enjoyed being the step-mother to Tommy Culberson, Pahokee; Buddy Culberson, Leesburg and Virginia Tuberville of Okeechobee. Her life interests were her family, students and her service to God at Pahokee Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fisherman Class. Beulah was an avid world traveler and a volunteer at North Florida Regional Medical Center.In addition to her sons, she is survived by her grandchildren Lisa Boe of Houston, TX, Captain Brian Boe of Destin, Alyson Davenport of Abington, MS and Jeffrey Boe of Wesley Chapel, FL, Tammy Mosley, Belle Glade, FL, Kelly Pankey, Okeechobee, FL, Jenny Culberson, Clewiston, FL, Brian Culberson, Leesburg, FL, Lorrie Bush, NV; She had four great grandchildren, Tytus and Lukas Salmon of Houston; Brandelyn Davenport of Abington, MA and Jasper Boe of Wesley Chapel, FL.Beulah was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and John and her sister Pauline.Funeral services for Mrs. Culberson will be on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11:00am at the Trinity United Methodist Chapel. Interment will be in Port Mayaca Cemetery with a graveside gathering for remembrance celebration with her relatives, friends and students from the Lake Okeechobee region on Thursday, February 6, 2014.
