Bobby Franklin Swinney, 88, of White Springs, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the VA Medical Center in Lake City.Born on January 21, 1935, in Eden, NC, to the late Stoell William Swinney and late Ola Roberts Swinney. Bobby gave his life to Christ at a young age and always stayed dedicated to his faith in God. Mr. Swinney proudly served his country in the Untied States Navy, during the Korean War aboard the Minesweeper USS Kite and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Mr. Swinney was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters local 234 of Jacksonville, Fl for 62 years. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and belonged to the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons for 53 years, Lake City Lodge #27. He loved to restore anything, he could build anything, loved woodworking and was a great carpenter, family called him "Bob the Builder". Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, and brother. Survivors include his loving wife Mary Jo, of 65 years, his children: Michael Swinney and wife Sandra, Patrick Swinney and wife Tammy, grandchildren: John Ross Swinney, Dezarel Waters and husband Austin, Miranda Grybko and husband Clayton, five great-grandchildren, sisters: Nanci Swinney and Mary Lou Swinney, and many nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Swinney will be held on Monday, December 18, 2013 at 11;30 a,m , at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Rev. Randy Ogburn officiating.
