Bonnye Lue Duerr Cox

Mrs. Bonnye Lue Duerr Cox age 75, of Melrose passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at her home after an extended illness. She was born on February 7, 1942 to the late Frederick and Marie Elizabeth (Aretz) Duerr. She has been a resident of Melrose since 1965. Mrs. Cox received her Bachelors degree in Nursing and her Masters degree in Education from the University of Florida. She taught second grade at Keystone Heights Elementary School for 27 years before retiring in 2004. After retirement, Bonnye wrote a childrens book titled "Bonnie and Connie Discover Callies Secret." She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a member of Melrose Church of Christ.Bonnye was preceded in death by her sister, Sheryl Kapua. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, John "Tommy" Cox, Jr. of Melrose; son, John T. Cox, III of Melrose; daughter, Natalie Cox-Andrews (Ray) of Keystone Heights; sister, Joan Humphrey of Sebastian; and twin sister, Connye Plouffe of Palm Beach Gardens. She also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends.Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights with Minister Gene Morgan officiating.
