Bruce Ernest Chestnutt age 74 of Melrose

Bruce Ernest Chestnutt, 74, of Melrose died Saturday, August 29th 2026, with his family by his side following an extended illness. 

Mr. Chestnutt was born in Tacoma Park, MD and moved to Putnam County in 2023. He was the owner of a successful company that manufactured heat exchanger coils for big buildings. 

He was known for his creativity, ingenuity, and for being a natural artist and engineer. His humor and intelligence will be remembered lovingly. His affable nature will be missed by his family and friends. 

He was an avid sportsman in his youth, who was fond of playing football and was a semi-pro hockey player by the time he was in high school. He also had a great love for both snow and water skiing. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Warren and Phyllis Chestnutt. 

He is survived by his brother Donald (Beverly) Chestnutt of Clarksville, Virginia and sister Rebecca (Bob) Niess-Chestnutt of Berlin, Germany: his sons Christopher Chestnutt of Arlington VA and Daniel (Karen) Chestnutt-Lemus of Charles Town, WV and his daughter Tamara (Mike) Chestnutt-DiAmore of Manassas, VA; and his grandchildren Nelson and Briana.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice Foundation, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606-3809. 

Burial will follow at a later date in West Virginia.
