Obituary

Carlton Bedlan Wilder died December 20, 2013. He was born in Chicago, September 23, 1924, to Almon Brooks and Eloise Bedlan Wilder, and grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. He attended Rollins College, where he met Marjorie Hansen, his wife of 69 years. They had four sons and one daughter, Chris (Yani), Tim (Janice), Jeff (Courtney), Doug (Dot), and Julie; nine grandchildren, Brenna, Stacey, Seth (Jennifer), Oliver, Ben (Stephanie), Emily, Burton (Bryan), Paul (Elaine), and Brooks (Brian); and five great grandchildren. Carlton served in the Navy aboard the destroyer R.P. Leary during WWII. He spent half his career as a commercial artist, and then became a full time fine artist. His marine paintings, landscapes, and portraits were award winning and his passion. He loved the subjects he painted - the water and woods and architecture of Florida. He and Marjorie were equally at home aboard their sailboat, Comesin, or living in the house they built at Littlelot. He loved most spending time with family and friends, talking, laughing, and flashing that Carlton Wilder smile. hide
