Carol Jean Avery, 73, of Reddick, Florida, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on July 18, 2023.Carol was born on August 22, 1949, in Whiteville, North Carolina to Henry Lloyd and Mary McLamb. Thefamily moved to Florida in 1959 and Carol graduated from Gainesville High School in 1968. While in highschool, she met and fell in love with Harvey Tindall. They were married in 1968 and the good Lordblessed them with two beautiful children, Harvey "Hobie" in 1970 and Cathy in 1977. After theydivorced, Carol met and fell in love with Jerry Avery while working at Wade Raulerson Pontiac. Theywere married at Calvary Baptist Church 1982. After she left the dealership, Carol worked as a secretaryfor the Office of The State Attorney in Marion County, retiring in 2014.Carol was affectionately known as Ms. Carol, Aunt Carol, Mom and/or Nana. As much as she lovedbeing a mama to Hobie and Cathy, her favorite role in life was being Nana to Kyle and Shelby. Carolloved watching love stories on Lifetime, the Florida Gators play football and NASCAR racing. Herfavorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends. She was a phenomenal cook. Cookingfor and feeding her loved ones was Carol's love language.Carol was a devout Christian woman and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in 1970. Herrelationship with the Lord was strong and she began each day with scripture and a daily devotional."This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalms 118:24 KJV).Carol is preceded in death by her grandfather and grandmother, William Roosevelt and Clyde HinsonDyson; her father, Henry Lloyd McLamb; her stepfather, Richard McCallum; her daughter, Jerrie LynneToledo and her granddaughter, Lynette Elisa Toledo. Carol is survived by her husband, Jerry Avery,Reddick; her mother, Mary McCallum, Gainesville; her sister, Sherrill Canter, Gainesville; her brother,Henry (Debra Lewis) McLamb, Cross Creek; her brother, Bill (Joy) McCallum, Gainesville; her son, Harvey"Hobie" (Farrah) Tindall, Gainesville; her daughter, Cathy (Chris) Gotcher, Reddick; her grandson, KyleMorse, Reddick and her granddaughter, Shelby Stewman, Palm Springs.The memorial service will be officiated by Randy Dyson and held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at ForestMeadows Funeral Home 725 NW 23 rd Avenue, Gainesville, Florida. A catered lunch will be servedimmediately following the service for fellowship with Carol's loved ones at the Elks Lodge, 2424 NW 23 rdBoulevard, Gainesville, Florida.
