Catherine Rose Thomas

Mrs. Catherine Rose Thomas age 86 of Hampton passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Thomas was born on August 20, 1932 in Waldo to the late Lonnie and Norma (Bias) Melton and was a lifelong area resident. Prior to retirement she worked as a house parent at Sunland center in Gainesville (now Tacachale). Catherine was a Baptist and loved her church and church family. She enjoyed working with flowers, traveling, fishing and was a tremendous supporter of the American Legion Post 56. Preceding her in death was her husband Glen H. Thomas, daughter, Rose Mary Thomas, siblings, Leonard Melton, Clarence "Buck" Melton, Lawrence Bias and many other family members. Survivors are: daughters: Katie Cloud (William) of Starke, Judy Bateman (Richard) of Cookeville, TN, son: Raymond Thomas (Lynette) of Archer, sister and caregiver, Joyce Mills of Hampton, siblings: Odessia McConaghy (Irvin) of Williston, Otis Melton (Marie) of Starke, sister-in-laws: Kathy Melton of Starke, and Essie Bias of Baxley, GA. Also left are her grandchildren: Jennifer Thomas, Jason Thomas, Casey Cloud, Beth Bateman Patrick Bateman and many other family members. The family will receive friends at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel of JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Pastor Donnie Lott officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. Arrangements are by JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME OF STARKE 904-964-6200.
