Catherine Griffin Waggoner, 94, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on April 3rd after a long illness at the end of a remarkable loving life as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Cece was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduated from Western College for Women, married her husband of 51 years Wayne Calvin Waggoner, and lived in Jacksonville the last 67 years. Cece was an active member of her church, Garden Club, and Red Hat Society. She loved to travel and was blessed to visit many different countries. As a wife she worked tirelessly alongside her husband in his insurance business and real estate endeavors. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she loved her family well. She was predeceased by her husband and by their daughter Marti Burr Schlegler (husband James) of Merritt Island. Surviving children are Wayne Calvin Waggoner, Jr. and wife Jan of Jacksonville, and Deborah Fisk and husband William of Anderson, SC, along with 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Services are being handled by George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home with the funeral to be held at her church, South Jacksonville Presbyterian, 2137 Hendricks Ave., at 1pm Saturday April 13th. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her church or Community Hospice.
