Cecile Jones Reysen

Cecile Jones Reysen, 97, passed away on January 2, 2021 at Penney Retirement Community, Penney Farms, Florida.Cecile was born on November 8, 1923 in Rochelle, Georgia. After graduating from Auburn University in 1944, Cecile took a secretarial job in Oak Ridge, TN, where she met and married the love of her life, Warren H. Reysen. Cecile was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and Warren were married for 69 years. After living in Tennessee, New York, Ohio, and Georgia, Cecile and Warren moved to Penney Retirement Community in 1991. As a life-long Christian lay leader in both American and Southern Baptist churches, Cecile taught Sunday School classes for all ages, advised Junior and Senior High Youth Groups, and served as President of the Womens Society. In addition, Cecile was a leader in many organizations: Girl Scouts, PTA, YMCA, the Newcomers Club, and the League of Women Voters. She also enjoyed worldwide traveling, gardening, and writing. Cecile will be remembered for her strong faith in God, her compassionate service to others, and for her sweet nature. Cecile was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Augusta Jones, her sister Sarah Francis (Tannie) Jones Farris, and her husband, Warren H. Reysen. She is survived by her two children: Richard J. Reysen (Chiaki) and Annelle Reysen Rigsby (Mike); grandchildren: Matthew, Peter, Stephen, and Rinah Reysen, Ember Rigsby Tanksley (Forrest) and Tia Rigsby; great-grandchildren: Summer and Ember Reysen and Cole Tanksley.
