Mr. Charles Finley Carroll 75, of Florahome went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2011 at the Roberts Care Center in Palatka. Mr. Carroll was born on August 9, 1936 in Carroll County, Kentucky to the late Fine and Josie Carroll. He had served in the United States Army as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War and was a personal escort to the General at Fort Benning. Prior to retirement Mr. Carroll was an Ink Smith for Georgia Pacific and had been a resident of Florahome for the past 35 years moving from Jacksonville. His memberships include the Lake Hill Baptist Church and Moody Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Carroll and his siblings, James, Howard, Billy, Julian, Mudge, Patsy, June, and Ellen. Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Shirley Carroll, children, Patricia Hope Griffith of Atlanta, GA, Charlynn Tison of Jacksonville, Debbie Goolsby of Florahome, and Christine Hengle of Keystone Heights. He is also survived by his siblings, Wilma Denny, Betty Hyatt, Rev. Gary Carroll, ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Carroll will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Harry Smith officiating.
