Charles Henry Davis (73) of Keystone Heights, Florida, passed away early Sunday morning, December 2, 2018, with his wife, Joy Rockwell Davis, at his side. Charlie was a bigger-than-life story teller and beloved friend of all who knew him. He is survived by more family and friends than can be mentioned who will dearly miss his sense of humor and front-porch chats. Born August 4, 1945 to Judge McKenney Janes and Ruth Henry Davis, Charlie grew up in Avondale (Jacksonville) and attended Howey Academy, then Valdosta State University. He spent his business life in the Jacksonville area, and retired to his family home in Keystone Heights where he regularly entertained lifelong friends and family. A surrogate father to many, he loved to hunt, fish, grow datil peppers, and drink shine with all of his loved ones. Charlie leaves behind his beloved wife Joy and their three children: Jennifer, Wesley, Patrick, and their families. He is survived by his sister, Fran Davis Hurlbut, and her children: Allison Greenwood, Joe Hurlbut, Susan Beall, Marian Jayne, and their families. Charlie is also survived by the children and families of his late brother McKenney Janes Davis, Jr.: McKenney Janes Davis, III and Letitia Ricker.
