Charlie Parker, 83 of Starke died suddenly on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at Shands at AGH. Mr. Parker was born in Campville, FL on October 5, 1925. Charlie served in the U. S. Army for 2 years and was a 1943 graduate of Bradford High School. In 1947, Charlie was hired by Florida Power and Light and in 1987 he retired in Miami after 40 years of service. In 1991, Charlie and his wife Garnita moved to Starke to enjoy their retirement. Charlie was an avid golfer, sports enthusiast, and he especially loved the Gators, Miami Dolphins, and Boston Celtics. Charlie was an enthusiastic member of the First United Methodist Church of Starke, and was a member of the Starke Golf and Country Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years: Garnita Hutto Parker of Starke. His daughter: Annette Parker Bonwit (Steven) of Miami; his son: Scott Creighton Parker of Los Angeles, CA; Grandchildren: Tyler Bonwit, Amber Bonwit, and Rebecca Bonwit all of Miami. His sister: Jeanette Joyce of Newberry, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Charlies life will be on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 1 Oclock in the First United Methodist Church of Starke with the Reverend Dale Locke officiating.
