Charles Terry Morrow (Terry), age 85, of Gainesville, FL, died peacefully on July 14, 2026. He was born on June 20, 1941, in Clarksburg, WV to Charles William and Lucy Morrow (Reynolds).
Terry was a lifelong learner and educator, earning an undergraduate degree from West Virginia University (1963) before earning a Masters Degree and PHD from The Pennsylvania State University (1969). After earning these degrees, he taught at both Penn State and the University of Florida before retiring in 2003. Even though his degrees were in engineering, his true academic passion was bringing technology into the classroom. He was instrumental in the growth of the Academic Computing Center at Penn State and in developing the Center for Instructional Technology and Training at the University of Florida.Terry and Pat moved from State College, Pennsylvania to Alachua, Florida in 1997, and built a house in Turkey Creek. Terry served for multiple years as the President of the home owners association.
In 2013, Terry and Pat moved to the Village in Gainesville, where they quickly developed a passion for the community. Terry served as a member and eventually President of the Resident Council for multiple years. He and Pat established an endowment for the Village to help support needs of both residents of the Village and the team of employees who cared for the residents.
In his retirement Terry combined his love for both education and wood working as a founder of the Woodshop at the Village. As one of the Woodshop leaders, he contributed many tools for all members of the community to use, and he could frequently be found in the Woodshop working on projects and helping others learn woodworking skills.
Terry is survived by his wife, Patricia Morrow, two children, Jill Catherine Kelley (Matt) and Charles William II (Kristin) and five grandchildren, Brian (Kelley), Kevin (Kelley), Addie, Parker, and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother David.
A memorial will be held October 17th, 2026, 1pm, at The Village at Gainesville, Florida.
