Charles Vance Vander Venter

Charles Vander Venter, originally from Big Lake MN, member of the Red Cliff band of Lake Superior-Chippewa nation, passed away on 7/5/2021 at his home in Baldwin, Fl. He is preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Vander Venter. Chuck is survived by his father, Butch Vander Venter; his ex-wife Erica Vander Venter; his 4 children: Cori, Erin, Charles Jr., and Katie; son-in-laws: Matt and Tanner; siblings: Carrie (John) and Chad (Honey); and 10 grandchildren: Haley, Gabby, Bradley, Mason, Evan, Caden, Owen, Marlon, Zoey, and Nolan. Chuck also leaves behind a large, loving extended family and countless friends and neighbors.Chuck graduated from Big Lake HS, c/o 1981. He proudly served in the US Army from 1981-1984, including a tour in West Germany. He met and married Erica Lethcoe in Ft.Stuart, Ga and ended up settling in Jacksonville, Fl where he raised his family. Chuck was a huge sports fan. He loved the Jags, Vikings, Twins, and Timberwolves. He passed the love of sports along to his children and grandchildren. Chucks sense of humor will be missed the most. He had a charm and wit about him that could make anyone smile. He was a great cook, and loved a good show or movie. However, his biggest love was the love of his family and togetherness. He enjoyed holidays and traditions and was usually the life of the party. Chuck held strong to his catholic roots and his relationship with God. He prayed often, including his last day.Funeral services will take place for Chuck at 11am Thursday, July 22, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1143 West Macclenny Ave. Macclenny, FL 32063.
