Cherrie (Mego) Mixon Williams Cherrie (Mego) Mixon Williams was born July 4, 1922, in Lyons, Georgia to RobbieCoursey Mixon and Thomas Wesley Mixon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John L. Mixon and her sister Mavis (Peggy) Mixon Smith. Among her survivors are her son Dr. Charles B. (Chip) Williams, his wife Jan; her daughter Julanne W. (Julie) Baker, her husband Garry; her nephew Rob. S. Smith, Jr. (Cathy); her grandchildren Amanda B. Maloney (Rob), Sydney Shipley (Marquis), Paige O. Williams, Wesley Baker (Maribel) and Catherine J. Williams; her great-grandchildren Perry and Macy Shipley; and her great-nephews Rob S. Smith, III and Andrew F. Smith. She was a member of the former Avondale Baptist Church beginning in 1939 and then joined Terry Parker Baptist Church. She worked for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company for thirty years. Everyone who knew Mego fell in love with her. She was a gracious, elegant, dignified steel magnolia who lived life her own way. She was an example and inspiration to her family. She never sought the limelight and never missed a chance to make her friends feel important. She lived by the GoldenRule and consequently was usually treated very well by her fellow man.A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 2PM at Terry Parker Baptist Church. The Rev. Howard Goodwin, a very special friend to Mego, will lead a service of celebration of her life.
