Ms. Cheryl Irene (Gray)Hodges, 52 of Middleburg passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Ms. Hodges was born November 15, 1967, in Jacksonville to parents Yates Kelby and Kathleen Gail (Smith) Gray. During her younger years, Cheryl cheered at Mandarin Athletic Association for pop warner football teams and then cheered at Manretta Sports Association. In her later childhood years, she played softball for Manretta Sports Association alongside her cousin Tana. During her teenage years, you would find her skating at the Mandarin Skate Road 13 or hanging with friends at Dans Sandwich Shop in Mandarin. In her later years, Cheryl enjoyed crafting, house decorating, Walmart shopping sprees, the drag races-especially at Green Cove Dragway, Facebooking, listening to country and gospel music, spending time with her grandchildren and hanging out with family and friends. She loved her grandchildren more than anything and they were the light of her life. Preceding her in death were her grandfather, Yates Kelby Gray, Sr., grandfather, George H. Smith, grandmother, Else Love Pritchard, grandmother, Eva Smtih Ballentine, and step-grandfather, Donald Ballentine. Survivors are her sons Dustin Hough (Amber Kissinger) and Kyle Hough all of Jacksonville; parents Yates and Kathleen Gray and a brother Allan Gray (Kim) all of Middleburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelby Hough and Bella Kissinger in addition to many nieces and nephews including Drake Gray, "JJ" Smith, and Brian Gray, and longtime friend, Jimmy Hodges. Funeral services for Cheryl will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at First Black Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Melvin officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at First Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions masks are required.
