Obituary

Cheryl Faye Peery, 77 of Middleburg, Florida, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at her home following a brief diagnosis of lung cancer. Cheryl was born August 23,1946, the first of twin girls, to Marvin K Conklin and Shirley Conklin English in Sioux Falls, SD. She and her sister were baptized on October 10, 1946, at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and confirmed on September 23,1962. Cheryls younger years were spent in Sioux Falls, Chamberlain, and Madison, all in SD. She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1964 and later moved to Denver, Colorado where she met and married Jim Peery. She and Jim then moved to the Jacksonville area while Jim was still in the Navy.Cheryl was a loving and proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Cheryl always had time to listen to anyone no matter what the situation. She loved a good party and maybe a little moonshine too. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bingo, and painting pictures of things she loved. She especially enjoyed her Serendipity Bible Study ladies and the OWLS, and the friendships created through sharing their faith. She became a member of St Peters Lutheran Church in 2001 and was in charge of the prayer chain till her death. Her faith and trust in God carried her through lifes journey, especially in these later years.Cheryl is survived by her daughters: Melanie (Scott) Callaway of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Lori (Phil) Curnalia of Green Cove Springs, Anne Reddish of Orange Park; twin sister Charlotte Russell of Pierre, SD; brother Greg Dirks of Middleburg. Grandchildren: Tim and Adam Callaway, Kenneth (Tiffany) Peery, Brandon Curnalia, Kacee McClain, Destiny Holmes and Cody Reddish, 6 great grandchildren, lots of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Peery, son Jaun Peery, grandson, Josh Peery, her mother Shirley English, father Marvin Conklin and brother-in-law Jim Russell. Her youngest daughter Cherie McClain followed her to Heaven on September 8, 2023. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this journey. The love and support has been overwhelming.One of Cheryls last texts was "Im at peace. Just hate to leave all behind. But we have the promise we will be together again."The Service will be held at St Peters Lutheran Church in Middleburg at 11am on September 21, 2023 with Rev Logan P Landes, Pastor officiating . Inurnment will be held at a later date.
