Dr. C. Jean MundyDr. C. Jean Mundy Dr. C. Jean Mundy, 69, of Tallahassee and Starke, passed away on July 3, 2009, at her home on Kingsley Lake where she was surrounded by close friends and family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Will Bill Mundy and Leila Mundy. Jean is survived by her cousin, Linda Gillingham, her husband and family. Dr. Mundy was a professor and former chair of Recreation and Leisure Services Administration Program at Florida State University. She had been at FSU for over thirty years before her retirement in 2003. During that time she served as head of the Department of Human Services and Studies, which included programs in counseling psychology, school psychology, rehabilitation, recreation and leisure services administration. Dr. Mundy was a member of National Recreation and Parks Association and was recognized by that Association as a Legend in the Field. She was also a member of the Society of Park and Recreation Educators Board of Directors where she served as president in l983. A noted national and international speaker and writer, Dr. Mundys areas of interest included therapeutic recreation, leisure education and the prevention and intervention strategies with at-risk youth. She is perhaps best known for her bench-mark literary contributions in leisure education. Dr. Mundy served as a consultant to organizations such as the Joseph Kennedy Dr. Foundation, Walt Disney World Seminar Productions, the Department of Defense, the United Nations and the German Broadcasting Company. She conducted training programs for the, the United States Air Force and Navy in Europe and the Far East; Bermuda Ministry of Community Affairs; The Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation; the International Recreation Association; and the Recreation Association of Nova Scotia. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling when she was not enjoying visits from her friends and family at the family home on Kingsley Lake. A Celebration of Jeans life will be held at 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday July 7th, at Culleys MeadowWood Funeral Home on Riggins Road in Tallahassee.
