Claire Marie "Cricket" Lackey McCurry, 89 passed away August 3, 2015, at her home in Fort White, Fla.She was born in Old Fort, N.C. to the late William Samuel Lackey, Sr. and Rachel Emma Lee Ducker Lackey. She was predeceased by her husband Wendell "Dick" McCurry, son Wendell Michael McCurry; brothers - Bill, Woody, Jack, James, Hadley, Harold, and Tommy, sisters - Catherine, Anita and half-sister Shirley.She is survived by her son, William Burney (Angelika) McCurry; daughters - Karen Lee Smith, Mary Catherine (Gary) McClellan, Betty Jean Arnold and Rebecca Diane (Brette) Cason, half-sister Bonnie Stoughton, daughter-in-law Linda McCurry, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.She retired from Littlewood Elementary Food Service in Gainesville, Fla. She graduated from Bryson City High School, Bryson City, N.C. in May 1940. She worked at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., taking care of our returning wounded World War II soldiers.She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
