Mrs. Clara "Nanny" Pauline Davis age 100 of Melrose passed away in Gainesville Monday, August 15, 2022. She was born June 21, 1922, in Gainesville to Orlando H. and Bessie (Thomas) Sheppard. Mrs. Davis was a registered nurse and served on the Florida State Board. She was a Baptist and actively enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was very passionate about spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death her husband John H. Davis and two children Lewis Emanuel "LE" Bennett and Marion "Marlene" Bennett. Mrs. Davis is survived by four children Freddie Davis (LuAnn) of Melrose, Olivia Carter of Jacksonville, Jimmie Davis (Sonia) of Melrose, and Huey "Peanut" Davis (Rhonda) of Middleburg. She was lovingly called "Nanny" by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Mrs. Davis will be held at a later date.
