Upon graduation from Valdosta High, she joined the Army where she served as an overseas operator and met her lifelong spouse, John. She was honorably discharged. She and John traveled the military life overseas and began a family and finally settled in Jacksonville, Florida. She then worked for AT&T for many years and retired. She resided on the westside for many years and then moved to enjoy the country life on the northside. Melbas love of God, her family, and her beloved dog Scamper were her passions. She loved crafting, cooking, reading the Bible, and tirelessly withstood the biggest family gatherings! A strong, fearless woman, she was no nonsense but was fun-loving and had a wicked sense of humor. She lived as an independent resident in assisted living for the most recent 2 years and is remembered for making cheerful occasion cards for the residents and walking her faithful companion, Scamper. Though she missed her church on the northside, she was so very happy to be able to attend the Baymeadows Baptist Church when she relocated and made many friends. She truly enjoyed Sunday school. She will leave an irreplaceable void in her loved ones lives, but we take comfort knowing she is at home with her Lord and Savior.Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Baymeadows Baptist Church, 4826 Baymeadows Rd.
