Clarence "Cooter Bob" Kerce

Mr. Clarence "Cooterbob" Benjamin Kerce age 67, of Gainesville passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. He was born in Lake Butler on November 23, 1948 to the late Henry Benjamin and Sarah "Granny Pete" (Fulgham) Kerce, and was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. Bob was known for his famous BBQ and had owned Cooterbobs BBQ Catering. He was and avid FSU fan and a member of the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs in Starke. Bob was also very active and involved in many ways in the community by volunteering to play the role of Santa for the City of Starke Christmas parades, helping with Toys for Tykes, preparing Christmas meals and buying gifts for local families, and being involved with the Camp Blanding Family Readiness. As much as he enjoyed all of these, the thing he most loved was his family. Bob was preceded in death by three siblings; Ida Sue Kerce Schmidt, Robert Fulgham and Hank Kerce. His survivors are his wife, Janice Mobley Kerce; three children, Jeanie Kerce Ingram, Kristy Kerce and Mike Kerce (Melissa Winters) all of Jacksonville; two step children, Heather Norton and Noel Norton Hendricks also of Jacksonville and six siblings; Jeanette Kerce Abbott of Tampa, BJ Kerce Warwick, Sharon Kerce Smith, Cosette Kerce Howard (Mike) and Jerry Kerce all of Starke, Donald Kerce (Gail) of Tennessee and one step-sister, Genell Kerce Burley. Also left behind are eight grandchildren, Mark, Matt, Jackson, Jordan, Jaiden, Jenai, Trinity and Tristyn. The family will receive friends in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
