Obituary

Mrs. Clariece Bromley Gregory, age 90, of Deland passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014 at The Alliance Community Facility in Deland. She was born on February 13, 1924 in Marion, Indiana, daughter of the late Clare Livingston and Minnie (Stoddard) Bromley. Clariece attended Orlando High School where she met her sweetheart in chorus. She then attended Endicott College in Massachusetts under an art scholarship. Clariece and John married on May 15, 1943. After raising their family she began painting in 1970. She studied under Millane Floyd, Cleve Miller and Nan Graecen. She was a talented artist who received numerous awards including Best in Show and First Place.Having a military husband, Clariece lived in numerous places around the country, but was a longtime resident of Fernandina Beach. While there she was a member of the Garden Club, Camilla Club, the Womens Club and the First Baptist Church. She met her dearest friends while living in Fernandina. Recently Clariece lived in Keystone Heights and joined the First Baptist Church there. Of all her accomplishments Clariece was proudest of her family.She is predeceased by a son, John Lawrence Gregory II, two sisters; Evilo B. Doster and Marjorie B. Wood and a brother Clare L. Bromley, Jr. Survivors are her beloved husband and attentive husband of 71 years, John Lawrence Gregory; her children, Bruce Allison Gregory and Kimberly Gregory Passwater, as well as two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Gregory will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014 in the First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights with Reverend Daniel Findley officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville. Arrangements are under the care of JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 340 E. Walker Drive, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
