Mr. Claude A. MorganMr. Claude A. Morgan went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2011. He was born in Union County on October 13, 1921 to the late William H. Morgan and Lillie Sapp Morgan. Mr. Morgan was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Starke and served in the United States Army during WWII in the European theater. He retired from E.I. DuPont Company after thirty-five years, was a member of and Past Master of Bradford Lodge 35, a member of Scottish Rite Freemasonry, S.J., USA, and a member of the Morocco Shriners of Jacksonville. Claude enjoyed woodworking, building violins and playing country music on the fiddle with friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lorene Brewer Morgan, his daughter Linda Morgan Waters, his son Kenneth G. Morgan, and sisters: Birtie Morgan Loper and Dorothy Morgan Herndon. Survivors are: his wife of 43 years Dolores Cexton Morgan; daughters Carolyn Morgan Costas of St. Augustine; Patricia Morgan Lynch (Tom) of Greensboro, GA; Diane Griffis Strauss (Robert) of Grenta, LA; Sheriden Griffis Miles (Neil) of Lake City; Julie Griffis Walmsley (Richard) of Raiford; son: Millard M. Griffis of Starke; brother: William Morgan (Mary) of Freeport; sister: Rosha Morgan Smith of Starke; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 P.M. with funeral services beginning at 2 Oclock on Tuesday, January, 18, 2011. Reverend Mike Moore, Pastor Don Thompson and Reverend Richard Nussell will officiate. Interment will follow services in Kingsley Lake Cemetery.
