It is with great sadness the family of Coy Rosier Cruce, 93, announces her passing. Coy died peacefully Monday at her home near Lawtey after a short illness. Coy will be forever missed by her family and friends.She was born on September 19, 1924, in Sanderson to Quincy and Annie (Sapp) Rosier. As a young girl, her family moved to a farm in the New River area west of Lawtey where she lived most of her life. She was a proud descendant of the Sapps and Rosiers, early pioneers to this area.She was a retired seamstress and loved her family, reading, cooking, gardening and making quilts. She could make about anything with a sewing machine. She was a longtime member of the Evergreen Baptist Church near Lawtey.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard H. Cruce whom she married in 1943; daughter, Gail Cruce; sisters, Myril Rosier, Bertice Slade, Gertrude Cruce, Sybil Griffis, Shirley Hart Stalvey; and brothers, Clifton and Bobby Rosier.She leaves behind a sister, Sandra Griffis and a brother, Edmond Rosier, both of Lawtey; her daughters, Nadine Jones (John) of Lawtey, Kay Goodale (Greg) of New Smyrna, and Carol Sue Cruce of Winter Springs; sons, Douglas Cruce (Gretchen) of Leavenworth, Kansas, Glenn Cruce (Susan) of Orlando, and Larry Cruce (Gabriela) of Titusville; grandsons, Douglas Cruce, Jr. (Rebecca), Christopher Cruce (Mercedes), Steve Jones, David Jones (Clay), Jeff Cruce, and Michael Karpinski; great-grandchildren, Garrett Cruce, Emelynn Cruce, Ethan Cruce, Kalilah Cruce, Kearsten Atteberry, Dale Jones, and Blakely Jones; one great-great-grandson, Brantley Atteberry; and many nieces and nephews.Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Evergreen Baptist Church in Lawtey with Pastor Kris Elkins officiating.
