Daisy Cotney Martin passed peacefully into her eternal rest December 23, 2023. Daisy was born May 28, 1933, to Odell and Lena Cotney who preceded her in death. In 1957 she wed W. Harold Martin, and they were married for 55 blessed years before he passed. Together they adopted two children, Bruce Cotney Martin and Harriet (Gayle) Martin Sespico. She was a lifelong and faithful member of the church of Christ, attending University City church of Christ and more recently the Newberry church of Christ. Daisy graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Social Services. Her lifes work was dedicated to enriching the lives of those in the surrounding area, from performing adoption studies to directing several programs for the elderly. Daisy was a frequent and gracious hostess and was heavily involved in church and community activities. Daisy is preceded in death by her husband (Harold), father and mother (Odell and Lena Cotney), and two sisters (Betty Gautney and Nell Smith). She is survived by her children Bruce and Harriet (Eric), grandsons Zachary (Rosalyn) and Jacob, and sister Pat (Dan) Presley. Funeral services will be held at the Forest Meadows Cemetery Central Mausoleum (4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, FL) on Friday, December 29, 2023. Visitation with the family will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Services will be at 1:00 pm.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to Haven Hospice who so respectfully and reverently cared for their mother in her final months.
